INTRODUCTION
You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!
(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)
The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!
And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!
((The Mastermind will introduce themselves at 7pm EST real time.))

[ if you're in the vicinity of the oddly laid out bedrooms (seriously! why are there? three? bedrooms that just open up directly into the ... lounge? when all the others don't! she thought those would be different but it's just more dorms!) you will probably see a girl nyooming up and down the halls with purpose and checking every door like she's looking for something. if your door is unlocked you may in fact have her walking in on you, oops.
you may in fact, see her opening your door multiple times, like she's hoping something's changed in the meanwhile. does she ever get tired? ]
diner
[ oh, turns out she can sit still. in fact she is ... having a staring contest with the robot manning the counter, it seems. from like, 6 feet away, apparently? if someone comes by, she might perk up, give a wave, and: ]
Quick, quick, order something, order something!
Diner
How kind. I'll have a cherry slushie. Make it snappy.
[She knows very well what this girl meant, but Erin never passes a chance to poke fun for her own enjoyment]
no subject
[ points at it!!! but also, sure, while not breaking eye contact with the robot she will zoom over to the part of the counter with the drink machines and pour a cup of one of them.
and then make her way back over without looking away from the robot. or more specifically, the kitchen door behind it, apparently? ]
no subject
[Erin gives a smirk that shows that she knew very well it was to the other one all long...but afterwards, she does oblige because, truthfully, she's curious what will happen. Pointing at the diner robot, she orders:]
Oi, you. One burger? The most basic kind you have.
1/3
staaaaare.
... sopmod slowly takes a step back. then another, and another, until
clck-hsssssssssss
the kitchen door opens! ]
2/3
and takes off at a sprint, throwing herself over the counter, intent on making it through those doors before they close— ]
3/3
—only to slam face first into the doors as they close faster than expected.
(hey, if erin's paying attention, she might notice that the sound of sopmod bouncing off the door feels a little off?) ]
No fair! I should've totally been able to make that if they didn't slow me down!
[ suuuuuuulk. ]

He stares at her for a moment.
Then stares at the robot.
Then back at M4.]
Do they serve drinks?
no subject
I don't know, I haven't tried? Maybe?
no subject
Okay.
[Walking up to the counter, looking the robot in the eye (or eye equivalent).]
Coffee, please.
no subject
... the robot makes no move to leave the counter. it may be that either sopmod or resasuke are too close to the doors.
... ]
... The service here isn't very fast, is it?

diner daredevil
[The strangely-dressed-and-coiffed fellow she's accosted -- who's really just wandered in looking vaguely out of it -- comes round long enough to give her the mother of all side-eyes, which is impressive given one of his eyes is shut from a half-yawn. He sounds both yawny and put-upon, somehow.
Belphegor closes his mouth and looks between her and the robot. Robot and... girl? The robot, honestly, gets a milder and more curious look, but it's not like he has no idea what a diner looks like. Vaguely. That said...]
... I don't even know what this thing makes. Is this the chef? What about sushi...
[Some of us have highfalutin tastes in kidnappingsville, go figure.]
no subject
But I'm not sure if raw fish is a good idea in a place like this?
[ this place looks old and abandoned and like someone's bunker or base or something, if they had fresh fish that wasn't preserved it's probably all rotten by now.
the diner bot does not move. was that an order, sir... ]
no subject
[He seems to be legitimately let down by this. Even his tail is drooping. Still, it takes but a moment for him to rally -- combing a hand through his hair as he thinks, making the cowlicks even worse. I just wanted to use the word cowlicks.]
... But, there's this new thing I've heard about that's supposed to be like sushi, but not raw. They're calling them "sushi bakes". [hope never dies?? he turns hopeful eyes on the robot] You've got the ingredients for a sushi bake, right?
[Sir, this is a diner.]
no subject
the robot ... makes a few halting movements towards the door? jerkily, like it's unsure. before it actually does end up tottering towards and through the doorway to the kitchen proper, sopmod just staring after it and looking like she's thinking hard about something...
before she shakes her head, blinks, and slaps herself on the cheeks to wake up. okay! what was she... oh, yeah. ]
Do you think they'll actually make a good sushi bake...?
[ do these robots know what one is? ]

Did you need something?
[ Ruby's not mad, but she is a bit confused. ]
no subject
[ she lets out an apologetic noise, then, with a little more frustration: ]
It doesn't make sense! Usually all the little details and parameters of simulations aren't this consistent! But this can't be real, because that means they're not here and I can't have missed them that many times!
no subject
I think this is real, [ Ruby says, slowly ] but I guess none of us know for sure.
[ A man sits under the stars, smoking a cigarette and missing his family. The traffic doesn't move. ]
Do you want to take a breather? It'll probably be easier to work it all out when you're not running around.

Looking for something? It should say your room number on your key, I think.
