You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!

(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)

The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!

And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!

Oh, fantastic. Let's get out of here before it's July 4th, everything here will be unbearable on that day.

It would not be safe to launch fireworks in here. So at least we have a deadline! Let's try to clear it as well ahead as we can.

I'd check the kitchen to see if it's decorated with the ol' spangled banner, but the doors keep closing when I try to go in.

[Can't break out of the shelter, can't break into the kitchen, we're doomed]

Right? Wonder what's back there if they're guarding it so well...

No idea yet, but given it's related to the food there's no good reason to keep us out at all costs.

[Sure makes that kitchen seem extremely shady!]

You don't think they're doing something to the food, do you?

That's the obvious conclusion one gets to, no? For all we know all the food is sawdust with color and fake flavor plastered all over it.

[Well, it probably isn't fake to that extent, but maybe there's a certain fakeness to it!]

Ew. That's even worse than school cafeteria food.

Depending on who you ask the jury's still out on which one is worse.

[Her high school cafeteroa was decent, but she knows enough pop culture to be able to grab the low-hanging fruit here, hah]

Eh, thinking about it, my school has a pretty good cafeteria. Private schools, y'know? But still.

[ She exhales, tapping a finger to her chin in thought. ]

It's gotta at least be safe to eat, right? It would be more than super weird if they went to the trouble of grabbing all of us and then throwing in poison.

Don't expect nutcases to do things according to 'common sense' or 'making sense'. You can't know what their plan for us all is.

I guess so. It just seems like it wouldn't be the way they want this to end. If I was a nutcase, I'd want things to last longer than one meal.
