INTRODUCTION
You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!
(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)
The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!
And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!
((The Mastermind will introduce themselves at 7pm EST real time.))

[Said in the high-pitched, descending tone of "huh, okay." He scratches the side of his face, his scowl disappearing for the briefest moment.]
Huh. You think the people involved with that would have anything to do with this? I mean, this place seems to be pretty steeped in Americana, overall, but-- [Nick stops short, his brain catching on something that the stranger said.] --wait, East Germany?
[Immediately, his body language reflects his sudden wariness, though maybe not for the reasons Grimmer might think. For Nick, any lack of 'current' knowledge is a surefire way to tell a ghost from a living, breathing human being.]

[So he's not from before the reunification of Germany, and thus a ghost. Probably??]
The East German kinderheims are just why I'm familiar with the idea of holding a group of people long term for that sort of purpose.

[Okay, so probably not a ghost. Maybe. He's been duped before. After another moment of reflection, Nick realizes it was foolish for him to assume so--the man was just speaking to the robot and having food served to him.
He doesn't know if it would be more or less comforting to have actual ghosts wandering this strange bunker. On the one hand, they might have been able to provide some helpful information. On the other hand, their presence would indicate...well. Death.]
I'm a private investigator, but I can't say I've looked into anything of that caliber. Mostly just...insurance fraud and missing spouses and the like.
[And other, less ordinary things, but that was a more recent development.]

[He had a huge duffel bag filled with all the records he found before it was rudely STOLEN by the invisible hand of god (the mods).]
But I'm sure being a PI is plenty interesting!

It pays the bills--at least, more consistently than my previous job. I only really became a private investigator after an old friend asked me if he wanted me to work with him.
[He lets out a huff, crossing his arms.]

[He shrugs lightly, looking away from Grimmer.]
Things happen, you know.
