You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!

(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)

The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!

And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!

What even is the point of this whole place, that's what I don't get. Surely they don't expect us to just sit around doing nothing forever.

I wouldn't be sure of that. My sister is an author and she got stinking rich. No idea how, but it worked out for her.

She must be very good - or very terrible. Those seem to be the only ways to make any real money out of it.

Her first adventures into the world of literature was writing romance. Apparently it was too smutty to be published anywhere eighty miles around any church.

[Hah, okay, not really, but it's true her sister did fail at first because her books were too racy to publish]

After that she poured her whimsy into writing books for children, about a hedgehog with chicken legs. Apparently they're good -- I haven't checked her work.

[ Klaasje murmurs, amusement glittering off of her. That's a real turn of phrase - it seems like her sister isn't the only clever member of her family. ]

Hedgehog with chicken legs...it must get into all kinds of situations. [ Solid premise. ] No advance copies for friends and family?

She and I got out of touch for a long time and even after we saw each other again, I live in...places she can't send books to.

[Very long story. Still, Erin doesn't seem bothered in the slightest, giving a very nonchalant shrug]
