You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!

(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)

The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!

And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!

[Well, that’s progress at least.]

Unlike some, I am capable of keeping my emotions in check. That, and I prefer to use my words where possible.

[Though usually it ends up taking a gun.]

Probably as much as you do, if you woke up in bed like the rest of us.

[Although imagining this robot man tucked into the sheets like he was is kind of weird too, so there's a hint of a question there hidden in Theo's eyes as well.]

[Just to cast aside any potential suspicion, which he probably draws due to his…everything.]

So you were taken, too. Can you think of any reason why?

[The confirmation is good even if it’s as reassuring as everything else he’s learned about this place so far (aka not at all). However, he just shrugs lightly at the question before he answers.]

Not really. My best guess is they just wanted someone who wouldn’t be missed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it had to have been me.

What, are you some kinda big shot?

[anarchia]

No…[Not like some, who can sway opinion just because of they’re the ones speaking.] …but that doesn’t mean there isn’t reason for others to want to do away with me.

[Which…he’ll just leave there without elaborating further!]

Do you not have friends that would miss you? Family?

[laughingfox]

[He would get suspicious at Carnivac admitting he may have something of a target painted on him if it wasn't for his already-intense sideeying. As it is, it's just another point to scrutinize.

And hm, okay maybe he worded that badly.]

I have friends, but it's not like they can do anything even if they found out I was kidnapped. Although I bet the Major'll cry about it when she realizes she'll have to report me as a deserter.

The Major? Are you military?

[laughingfox]

Only technically. We’re just drones according to them, so it’s not like we really count the same as human soldiers.

[Bitter, him? Never.]

It’s different for the Major though, she’s actually part of the Republic military.

[anarchia]

[Wow, that sure is a Lot and he's definitely not happy to hear it!! But he tries to keep his tone in check, instead asking the more obvious - and concerning - question.]

...Are you not human yourself?

[laughingfox]

[He's on the verge of firing back with a snide response before he remembers that, wait, he's talking with a robot. For all he knows, they can't identify humans from animals or whatever, so that takes the wind out of his sails enough for him to just come off as sulky instead of scathing.]

Of course I am. But it's a lot easier to pretend you're superior if you treat everyone else like pigs, right?

[anarchia]

I know it all too well. They dismiss the cannon fodder as less than, and suddenly the blood on their hands starts to look like water. One doesn't rise to the top whilst giving all lives equal consideration.

[He speaks with a passion born out of a deep-seated anger, though in spite of it he appears rather well-composed.]

How unfortunate it is that some experiences appear to be universal.

[laughingfox]

[Huh. Honestly speaking, this really wasn't the type of conversation he expected to have when they had this encounter, so he's left a little bit surprised and befuddled by the way Carnivac says that. But once he recovers for that moment, the tension that was still in his posture relaxes some and he scratches the back of his head awkwardly.]

Well, that's just how people are anywhere, I guess. ...But I gotta admit it's kinda disappointing to hear things are the same even outside the Republic.

[anarchia]

[He’s glad to diffuse the tension a little bit, even if he got kinda heated there.]

Have you spent much time outside of the Republic?

[Y’know. Aside from the situation they’re finding themselves in.]
