You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!

(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)

The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!

And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!

[ That's...sweet. She expected Richard to be put off by the description, honestly. There's a certain amount of optimism inherent in expressing a hope for the future, and it's something Ruby misses in herself. It's nice to see that Richard still has some.

For the first time in the Vault, Ruby smiles. ]

I'll see what I can do. If I can't find any tech in the radios that'll bust us out, the least I can do is show you, uh. Raw music.

[ He nods again with a bit more conviction. ]

While I would prefer the former, I shall hold you to the latter, all the same.

[ While he's still Very Clearly Excited about the prospect of experiencing the "raw" music, he settles back down a bit. ]

I hope we're able to reach some sort of resolution to this, sooner rather than later. It's hard to think they've brought us all here just to mingle amongst ourselves for long.

[ Mingle? Ruby raises an eyebrow, a little surprised at his read of the situation. ]

I don't think we're here to mingle. This place feels like a really nice prison. You commit any crimes, lately? [ she's mostly joking there. everyone winds up on the wrong side of the law sooner or later, unless you can afford not to. ]

I was recently arrested in connection to the destruction of a local opera house a few days ago, actually! Which I still intend to make amends and compensate the town for the damage!

[ It's been a long couple of days. He's been distracted. ]

Does this mean you've been recently incarcerated, as well?

[theinstigator]

Nope. I'm a big believer in running from the cops.

[ And that's high-quality, free advice you can use, right there! ]

No offense, but I can't imagine a fan of raw music would mess up an opera house. What happened? [ this actually sounds pretty good. ]

[ He nods understandingly. He would've just gotten the fuck out of there when he could, but he did tell the policemen that detained him he'd stay there, so....... ]

I fought someone shortly after arriving there. It was a well-fought battle, but some of my attacks caused significant damage to parts of the building. I think some of the roof was destroyed, if I recall. [ ... ] But as I said, I made a promise to the people that I would compensate them. And I intend to make good on that.

[ how?????????????? who knows. ]

Your attacks? [ Ruby raises an eyebrow, impressed. ] Damn, dude, you must've brought one hell of a gun. They take that from you, too?

[ He's about to correct her, but maybe that's not such a great idea at the moment, since they still have no idea what's going on. ]

My weapon was confiscated at some point before arriving, so I am unable to cause any more structural damage.

[ Which, given that they don't know where they are, might be for the best. ]

I'm sure something will turn up eventually.
