INTRODUCTION

INTRO
Vault 113

You wake feeling groggy. You have the distinct sense of oversleeping, even if you may not recall ever going to bed in the first place. And this bed? Definitely not yours, no matter how comfortable it may be. And you'd probably not go to sleep in your street clothes*, right? Well, maybe it's time to smooth out your bedhead and get exploring!

(*or whatever else you were wearing at the last moment you remember)

The first thing you'll notice is the complete absence of windows - are you underground? Though you'll encounter quite a few closed doors, there are some rooms for you to look through and maybe catch your breath in. Maybe it's time for a slushie in the dining room? Impatience won't get you anywhere!

And what's better than a sweet drink to bring strangers together? After all, you're not the only one who's crawled out of bed a little late today. Mingle and don't worry too hard about your current predicament!

((The Mastermind will introduce themselves at 7pm EST real time.))

[ Thanks, he doesn't even need to try.

Anyway, Arjuna doesn't press him about the matter, not exactly being as much as a busybody himself. Naturally, instead moving right on ahead to those questions presented in his general direction. ]

...Unfortunately, it's as you have guessed. I have no answers about our current predicament—including how our kidnappers brought us here.

Only guesses, and even those feel hardly worth voicing. Not when there's nothing substantial to potentially back them up.

Right. All we know is we were taken here, seemingly en masse, and were left to our own devices. It's peculiar, to say the least.

[ Louis looks down in thought. ]

Well, I suppose in the absence of any clues on where we are or how we got here, we should exchange information on what we were doing before he woke here. And where we were.

[ He'll nod. ]

I was not doing much, I'm afraid. Just keeping to myself in my own personal room, and before I knew it, I was here.

[ Simple...but to him that's what makes it even more egregious. Not even a warning siren appeared before he had found himself taken here. ]

What about yourself?

My companions and I had just returned from scouring the city ruins. I was resting, then I suddenly awoke here.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹o2)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ...Figures. Well, there was a chance of there being differences, until now. ]

I see. The companions you were with—were they well-versed in combat, by any chance?
cbc: (pic#16381035)

[personal profile] cbc 2023-04-18 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
They were. Where I’m from, basic knowledge of combat is practically a necessity.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹38)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Then, a whole group of combatants were still taken unawares.

[ Not that one can't say the same about other people, including himself, but he supposes it is not entirely impossible to steal away a singular person if they are by themselves. Even in a place like Chaldea. ]

I won't praise our kidnappers, but that's rather concerning. What kind of threats were you used to being up against, that would necessitate combat? Just monsters?
cbc: (pic#16381034)

[personal profile] cbc 2023-04-18 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
If not a group, a sizable number. There's at least one other oddity as well. My city is surrounded by a deadly red mist. To my knowledge, nothing is capable of coming in—or out.

[ Anyway, monsters... He has a feeling none of this is going to sound familiar, but it's worth explaining anyway to be sure. ]

As for the matter of enemies... You're mostly right. More specifically, they're called "lost." It's what happens to a revenant once their thirst consumes them.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹36)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Not exactly. But, ah yes, deadly mists in the air...honestly, sounds like a terrible place to live, though there is nothing saying this place is any better. ]

If it was a long distance spell or technology used, I suppose that could make it possible to breech something like that.

[ He is not technologically inclined but he is a Servant at Chaldea, though there is a pause at that. Thirst? It's not a simple matter of not getting enough water, he feels. But for clarification's sake, he'll ask: ]

...What do you mean by thirst, exactly?
cbc: (pic#16381035)

[personal profile] cbc 2023-04-18 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hm... a long distance spell? They don't have that kind of technology so he can't say for sure it wouldn't work so, hey. Maybe.

At the same time, he has his doubts. Anyway, at least the question of thirst is easy to answer. ]

Put simply, their lust for blood. Without blood to satisfy their thirst, a revenant will succumb to frenzy and become one of the lost.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹o2)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Of course...it's always something like that, isn't it?

Though, hm. This does beg the question. ]

...Are you one of them? A revenant, that is.

I figure that I may as well ask, considering everything.

I am. Most of the people encountered within the mist are, but I suspect that isn't the case inside these walls.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹32)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes; we can't say for sure, but I have a feeling you'd probably be talking with those you know sooner than later if it were true.

[ Though... ]

...Do you think our captors will place consideration into your condition?

It's difficult to say. Considering they went to the trouble of bringing me here, I doubt they'll leave me to starve. At the same time...

[ He closes his eyes. ]

It depends on the purpose of our presence, and whether they consider this a "personal problem" or not. If they do, it's entirely possible they mean for me to feed on the people here.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹39)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I seriously hope not.

[ It'll just add to a multitude of complaints he has with all of this, for certain. ]

There's already enough trouble being caused by us being forcibly brought here against our will.
cbc: (pic#16381034)

[personal profile] cbc 2023-04-18 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I'd prefer to avoid going around asking for donations, if I can. But only time will tell if it'll be necessary or not.

[ spoilers, it won't be! they'll provide enough blood for him to keep him sane, he just doesn't know it yet ]

In any case, the issue of blood can wait for now. I'll be fine for at least a few days, which should be long enough for us to find some answers about this place. Or, hopefully, a way out.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹o2)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's certainly true.

[ Good spoilers, tbh. ]

There's still much to be found about our situation. Oh, and I suppose we haven't done formal introductions, haven't we?

You can call me Arjuna.
cbc: (pic#16381035)

[personal profile] cbc 2023-04-18 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't believe we have.

[ He holds his hand out. ]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Arjuna. My name is Louis.
dharmicrevelation: (🏹37)

[personal profile] dharmicrevelation 2023-04-18 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He knows about handshakes by now, so he will take it, gripping the hand firmly. ]

A pleasure, even if our circumstances are not, Louis.

Here's to making an escape sooner, rather than later.
