WEEK 3 MINGLE
The dreams are back, of course. They never left. But they’re different. In the dream, you wake up back at home at last. It’s so close now or… maybe everything else was just one great big nightmare. Your loved ones hug you tightly, and you can feel it so vividly that this has to be real. Things are going well for you, somehow. Maybe you won that fight. Maybe you found your freedom. Maybe you got that promotion. There’s something hopeful in the air as you breathe it, so so vividly. So much more vividly than the dank corners of the vault.
And then someone in your dream, a friend, an enemy, a loved one, family, they turn to you. They open their mouth, and through it, almost like a speaker, a song begins to play. Have you heard it before? You have now.
Coincidentally, they seem to freeze. Ice creeps up their skin, and if you take the chance to look around you, you’ll see it all start to crumble. It all goes up in a cloud of fire. A mushroom cloud, more specifically. Every single morning, on every single day of this week, you’ll be forced out of the real world and placed back in your body. Horrible, isn’t it?
Of course, just like the last two times, The Overseer speaks up over the intercom.
“I said at the end of the last execution that we’d have a new area prepared for you. A new week awaits you. I look forward to watching you take a stab at it.”
Poor choice of words, maybe, but the routine continues and the elevator has unlocked another stop. The third floor is now available to you.
As ever, the Overseer and her significantly more pleasant assistant are available for contact.

It would only take a moment for Keiichi to notice your presence, at which point he'll speak up.]
Need something? I'm gonna have to keep track of that, if you do.
[Later, you might come across him on the newly unlocked floor, poking at the plants in the greenhouse! He's mostly looking at the flowerbeds with a particular appraising gaze peculiar mostly to canny merchants or pawn brokers, and completely fails to notice your character's presence. It seems like you'll have to get his attention somehow.
And lastly, when it's late, Keiichi will inevitably find himself dragged back to one room in particular. It's the clubroom, it's the place it all started, it's the schoolhouse! He's sat on that desk, and staring at that spot. But uncharacteristically, he'll speak up. Quietly. Carefully. As if speaking right now is somehow something profane.]
Who do you think... will die next?
[The question is asked in a way that makes it unclear if he's talking to you, the empty spot, or the sword clenched in his hands.]

but when keiichi speaks up, sigma can’t help but feel obligated to reply. ]
Anyone could.

...but are you sure that's what you want to talk about at a time like this? It's not going to make you feel better at all.

[ Goro sits on the next desk over, crossing his legs at the knee and somehow managing to look proper even through this silly little act of rebellion. ]
If either of us guessed correctly, that would make us obvious suspects.

She goes to the new floor, finds the computer lab, and just kind of cracks her knuckles as she stares at the terminals, hoping against hope that somehow yelling at her brother to get off the internet will have osmosized enough basic computer competence into her to let her accomplish something here! ]
God, Josh would love this.
[ Annnnnnd she's looking for any terminal that might be specifically marked for archivists or that just looks particularly important! If that doesn't pan out, just like Sigma before (if chronologically after) her, she's going to simply boot up any given one.
After that, you can find her in the arts and crafts room, initially looking over all the potential murder implements. She frowns at a chisel. ]
Two weeks ago we didn't even have kitchen knives. It's like, the more people die, the easier they're making it for us to off each other. What kind of stupid logic is that?
[ Later, she's got some paper and colored pencils, and she's trying to draw something -- you can tell, probably, that it's supposed to be a portrait, like the memorials in the chapel. You can also tell by the bright red she's using who she's attempting to render! But Deena also can't draw for shit, so that's the only indicator.
At a certain point, she starts scribbling over her efforts angrily... but then she stops. It feels wrong to do. Eventually, her attempts downgrade into her just halfheartedly drawing band logos and the cool S over and over. ]

I think it would be asking too much to expect this place to make much sense.
[He gives it some more thought.]
If they’re worried we’d lose our motivation for it, that could be a reason to make it easier.

[ alright, let's take a look at the computers. he's no ruby or any of the archivists, but that doesn't mean that he can't try to become hackerman, no?
he'll sit down in front of the computer, staring at the desktop. what does he see? ]

[ later in the afternoon, sigma looks to be in the common room... but this time not sleeping.
he appears to have a deck of cards in his hand, playing something that appears to be... solitaire? either way, he seems approachable, if you ignore the pistol in its holster. ]

WEDNESDAY
EVENT: The Spooktacular Specters Arrive!
What there is however, is a loud blaring from the PA system. After the initial chock, the song becomes more recognizable, but there's parts that are stutter, the words missing.
"Get out of here - ... Why don't you do right? Like some other men do? - ... You let all the women make a fool of you ... - ... Get out of here."
Of course, anyone on the third floor might see something else that's particularly odd. The Morgue is wide open. And some of the spaces containing the corpses of other Vault-Dwellers appear to be completely empty. In fact, exactly 8 corpses are gone.
"SOONER OR LATER, GOD'LL CUT YOU DOWN."
Uh, seems maybe you might want to go looking.]

eventually, she'll ask softly, the words offered up to no one apparent in particular: ]
Maybe I should have torn your core out...? Put it in Banana like I did before? Then you'd be here, at least. I don't know if that'd be better or worse but at least we'd be together ... what's the point of being a team if we keep getting split up?
... Are you stuck in there right now, and I forgot? You're better than me at all this electronic warfare stuff...
[ fun things when your dreams (?) have you revisiting the idea that this is an extremely messed up virtual simulation. and how would they know? how would any of them know?
uuuughhhhhhh. wondering about it isn't going to get her anywhere, and she's going stir crazy. later on she can be found in the greenhouse, going through it in search of anything worth noting and making a face at the mutated flora, especially the one covering the one wall. ]
What's the point of hiding them down here so they don't get affected by the radiation when they're just going to experiment on them and turn them into messed up weird plants anyway...
[ and even later, after the, hm, interesting hauntings and announcement, sopmod can be found back in the armory, staring up at the damaged walls and ceiling with an investigative, speculative eye. ]
They were mutant, right...? Way too big and gross. That means they had to get in from somewhere...?
